HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Marshall Softball (35-13, 15-4 SBC) dropped the series opener at Louisiana by a 3-2 scoreline Friday evening. The Ragin' Cajuns scored two in the 6th to tie it, before winning the game on a two-out walk-off bloop single.
The Herd jumped out to an early lead after a pair of leadoff singles by Sydni Burko and Ava Blake to open the game, Burko would score on a passed ball.
In the 4th, Bella Gerlach hit a no-doubter to left field for her 13th home run of the season, giving the Herd a 2-0 lead.

Starter Jules King struck out seven throughout the contest. The Herd's junior worked out of a bases-loaded jam with one out in the 5th and nearly navigated out of the 6th, but a two-out UL triple managed to stay inside the line to tie the game.
The Herd is now tied atop the Sun Belt Conference standings heading into Saturday.
