Joey Bloebaum Sets 200m School Record to Lead Herd on Final Day of Charlotte Invitational

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Marshall Track & Field delivered a surge of standout performances at the Charlotte Invitational, most notably a pair of school records getting matched or overtaken.

Sophomore Joey Bloebaum raced a flat 21.00 200m, breaking Joe Sassler's record set in 1981. Additionally, sophomore Ryan Muktar matched the High Jump record of 2.12m from 1995 set by Jamie Burgess.

"We had a lot of great performances this weekend," Director of T&F Keith Roberts said. "Two school records, a couple all-time Top-2 performances, several Top-5 performances, and numerous wins. Our team is rewriting the record books at Marshall. We still have a lot of room to grow but I am proud of their effort."

Three Herd athletes came away with individual victories Saturday with Muktar, Cole Miller in the Long Jump and Destiny Berryman in the Men's 3K.

Track Events

In the women's 100m, Bay'Andria Hodges sprinted to a runner-up finish in 11.71 seconds (season best), while Iniya Charlton crossed fourth in a season-best 11.79 to add 5 more for the Herd. Charlton would finish fourth with a season-best and team-leading time of 23.70. On the men's side, Bloebaum clocked a personal best 21.00 in the 200m for fourth place. Kylan Overstreet finished sixth in the 110m hurdles at 14.57 with freshman Cameron Burgess following closely behind. Berryman led the women's distance crew with a decisive victory in the 3000m, running 10:18.30. Both 4x100m relay teams matched or set season-bests.

Field Events

Ryan Muktar soared to a first-place finish in the men's high jump, clearing a season-best 2.12 meters. Evan Weder followed closely behind with a personal-best 2.07 meters. Markayla Moore led the Herd women in shot put (14.53m) and Gabriel Urraca led the men in the event (16.83m). Miller's win in the Men's Long Jump capped the day. Overstreet also finished directly behind with 7.15 meters.
