Three Herd School Records Fall on Day Two of SBC Outdoor Championships

MOBILE, Ala. - Marshall junior Gabriel Urraca scored a podium finish with his 2nd place finish in Men's Shot Put to lead the Herd on Day Two of the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Championships.Â
The MEAC winner in the event from last season at NC Central threw 18.08m Friday to earn silver, one of two throwers in the conference to surpass 18 meters, also marking the first 18 meter shot put throw in program history.Â
Friday had no shortage of accomplishments for the Herd with two additional school records broken. Junior transfer Kylan Overstreet raced a time of 14.18 in the 110m Hurdles, breaking B.J. Epps record from 2000.Â
Bay'Andria Hodges additionally raced a time of 11.46 in the 100m prelims. Her record-time broke Isatu Fofanah's 11.49 mark from 2015.
Hodges was one of five qualifiers to Saturday's finals. Iniya Charlton joined her in the 100m dash while the trio of Alayazia Williams, Azurie Garrett, and Myah Boze qualified from the 100m Hurdles. Boze will additionally race in the 400m Hurdles finals Saturday.
Additionally in the shot put, Markayla Moore finished her successful Thundering Herd career with a 5th place finish. The Huntington native threw 14.47m to score four points in her final competition.Â
