Mikrut Nets Hat Trick as Herd Battles Belmont to 3-3 Draw

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Marshall Women's Soccer earned its first draw of the 2026 season in dramatic fashion, rallying from a 3-1 second half deficit to level Belmont on the road in Nashville.
Scoring all three of the Herd's goals was sophomore Wiktoria Mikrut. With a first half strike and a pair of converted penalty kick goals in the second 45, the Poland native netted MU's first hat trick since Angel Fowler did so in last season's regular season finale.
With the result, Coach Rafa Simoes and the Herd is now 2-1-1 on the season, scoring three goals apiece in three separate contests.
"I'm very proud of my players tonight," said Coach Simoes. "Wiktoria got a Hat Trick and this is just her first season with us! We are looking forward to seeing how she grows on the team."
"This is a team that's used to overcoming adversity," Simoes added. "These women are physically and mentally tough, so I was not surprised at all that they bounced back. People should never underestimate Marshall Women's Soccer."
The adversity first hit with a pair of conceded goals in the 15th and 18th minutes respectively.
Mikrut's first goal came on an assist from Brooklyn McComas down the left side. McComas is already the eighth different Herd player to register an assist this season.

Marshall found itself down by multiple goals again after 50 minutes before a pair of successful challenges by Coach Simoes leading to VAR and subsequent converted penalties.
Mikrut is a perfect 3-for-3 from the penalty spot this season, and leads the team with four goals.
The Herd looked to be the more likely side to find a winner after the 76th minute penalty equalizer, MU outshot Belmont 8-5 in the second half. Marshall has had more shots on target in three of the first four matches it has played.
Marshall remains in the Volunteer State, heading west to face UT Martin Sunday evening at 8 p.m. eastern, 7 central.
