2014:Made 11 appearances, all out of the bullpen... came out of the pen on 3/1 versus Duke where he faced two batters and struck them both out...worked 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief where he nabbed three strikeouts on 5/16 versus Middle Tennessee...combined for a one-hit shutout on 4/16 versus WVU Tech with Roscoe Blackburn, Clint Wilson, and Brandyn Sittinger finished season with nine strikeouts in 11.1 innings pitched.
2013: Made 18 appearances, including two midweek starts...finished the season 0-1 with a 3.68 ERA in 14.2 innings of action...struck out nine and walked seven...gave up earned runs in only four outings...his ERA was second-best among Herd relievers (Ryan Hopkins).
2012: Threw 10 innings from the pen and claimed a win as his only decision of the season...that victory came against Coppin State (4/10) when he pitched a career high two innings, striking out two...struck out six hitters for the season...earned run average was 5.40.
Summer League: Played three seasons with the South Charlotte Panthers...boasted a 7-3 record with 45 strikeouts in 46 innings pitched his final year...played one summer with the Lake Norman Copperheads (SCBL)...went 1-0 with a 3.86 ERA (16.1 IP).
High School: Attended Providence High School...won SW4A Conference championships in junior and senior seasons (2009-10)...3-1 record with two saves senior year...3.13 earned run average through 31.1 innings pitched...struck out 34 and walked 19.
Personal: Born on Feb. 28, 1992...son of Jim and Janet Kessler...held a 3.75 grade-point average at Providence HS...has a sister, Hailey, who graduated from UNC...majoring in exercise science
