High School: Attended Hurricane High School … Played for coaches Josh Caldwell and Meghan Stevens … Won the West Virginia AAA State Championship all four years and a member of the All-Tournament team every year … Named the 2019 West Virginia State Player of the Year, the West Virginia Gatorade Player of the Year, the Kanawha Valley Player of the Year and First Team All-State Captain … As a senior hit .607, 22 home runs and 73 RBI … Freshman campaign hit .494 with 12 homers and 52 RBI and was named the Rookie of the Year as well as First Team All-State, MSAC All-Conference First Team and All-Kanawha Valley First Team … During sophomore season hit .336 with seven home runs and 41 RBI, was named Second Team All-State and All-Kanawha Valley Second Team … For junior year hit .492, 16 home runs and 61 RBI, was named Kanawha Valley Player of the Year, First Team All-State, Captain of the First Team All-State, MSAC All-Conference First Team, All-Kanawha Valley First Team and to the 2018 MaxPreps Junior All-American Team … Has many former high school teammates playing collegiately including now current Marshall teammate Katie Adams, Jayme Bailey at Virginia Tech, Paige Scruggs and West Virginia State University, Kiersten Landers at Florida State and Amber Null at the University of Charleston.
Personal: Born October 19, 2000 … Daughter of Chad and Mistie Mathes … Has one younger sister Carly … Cousin Morgan Hedrick attended Warner University and played softball … Chose Marshall because, “it is a family environment and it felt like home and where I needed to be. Marshall is also very close to my home and so my family can come and watch us play.”
