Kyle Raines joined the Marshall University Track and Field Coaching Staff as a volunteer in the Fall of 2017, assisting as the Herd's pole vaulting coach. Since his arrival, he has coached the Marshall's pole vault crew to completely rewrite the record books in both indoor and outdoor seasons. He has coached two athletes to earn All-Conference honors (Lauren Zaglifa-2nd, 2019 Indoor Championships) and (Macie Majoy-3rd, 2020 Indoor Championships) as well as several top-8 finishes in the conference.

Raines competed in the pole vault collegiately at West Virginia Wesleyan College and was a multi-event scorer throughout his career. He earned runner-up at the 2015 Mountain East Conference Outdoor Championships with a top clearance of 4.16 meters (13 ft. 7.75 in.) in the pole vault and set a career personal best of 4.35m (14 ft. 3.25 in.) at the 2017 MEC event.

Raines is a native of Spencer, West Virginia and is the older brother of Josie Raines, who competes for Marshall Track and Field.
