Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of Week: Sept. 6
One of three student-athletes to appear in all 30 contests for the Herd…led Marshall with 409 digs and had 93 assists during the season…registered 20 contests with 10 or more digs with a season-high 30 against Middle Tennessee (Sept. 3)…recorded season-best seven assists against Arkansas State (Nov. 11).

Prior to Marshall: Gehler has four seasons of collegiate experience behind her with 363 sets played, 1,162 digs, 195 assists and 51 aces. She has recorded double-digit digs 56 times in her career.
 
Gehler played libero for the Wyoming Cowgirls over the past two seasons. In the 2021 season, she played in 96 sets and finished third on the team with 177 digs. Gehler added 35 assists, four aces and three kills. Gehler tallied 10 or more digs in eight matches this fall with a season high of 13 in three matches. She earned Academic All-Conference honors in 2021 as a Spanish major.
 
In the shortened 2020-21 season, Gehler played in all 14 matches and 51 sets on her way to leading Wyoming with 152 digs, an average of 2.98 per set. She also totaled seven aces and 22 assists. Gehler recorded double-digit digs eight times. She rang up 33 in two matches against Boise State, including a season-best 18 digs in the second match. Gehler totaled 29 in two matches versus New Mexico and added two aces in the second meeting. She was named the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week on Feb. 15 for her efforts against New Mexico.
 
Gehler began her collegiate career playing two years at Memphis. With the Tigers, Gehler appeared in 58 matches and 216 sets. She recorded 833 digs, an average of 3.86 per set, and added 138 assists and 40 aces. Gehler had 449 digs as a sophomore in 2019, with 10 or more in 22 matches and a season-high of 30 in a five-set win over Wichita State. She added six assists in the victory as well. Gehler tallied 384 total digs with double-digits 18 times as a freshman in 2018 with a career-high 33 in a win against East Carolina. She was named to the 2018-19 American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team and was on the Dean's List as well as the Tiger 3.0 Club each semester boasting a 4.0 GPA.
 
High School: Gehler attended and played volleyball for four years at Lakeside Lutheran High School…she accumulated a school record 2,240 digs, 344 service aces and helped her team to a 143-24 record…lists her favorite athletics moment as winning the state championship in 2017 after coming back from down two sets to win the match…earned several honors including being a Wisconsin Volleyball Association all-state honoree, the all-tournament team, named twice to the Capitol-North first-team all-conference and once to the second team and was a three-time team captain.
 
Personal: Born Feb. 13, 2000…daughter of Kirk and Amy Gehler…she chose Marshall because “of the the family atmosphere of the town, program and school,”…after her playing days are over she wants to go to Spanish speaking countries to help people English who want to learn language and coach volleyball…lists her favorite non-sports hobbies as hiking, painting, going to country music concerts and thrifting.
 
Bianca Giglio
 
High School: She has been starring for Notre Dame Preparatory High School. Giglio has been a member of four district championships, three regional titles, two-time state quarterfinalist and the state runner-up in 2018. She is a two-time AVCA All-Region selection, garnered AVCA Best and Brightest Award and was just honored as a 2021 AVCA All-America Honorable Mention. Giglio was named to the 2020 All-County Dream Team and was a Third Team All-State selection. She has also been named to the Prep Dig Watchlist list three times as well as a Prep Dig "Top 5 Right Side Hitters," Prep Dig "Top Middle," and the Prep Dig Frosh 59 lists.
 
Personal: Born Feb. 16, 2004…daughter of Gina and Bruno Giglio…dad, Bruno, played football at Adrian College…has two siblings, Cristiana and Maximus…chose Marshall because “it has a wonderful academics and athletics program. Marshall also has a wonderful and loving community like no other,”…lists her biggest role model as Michael Jordan because “he had the greatest mindset in sports history.” One of her favorite quotes of his is, “I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed,”...lists her favorite non-sport hobbies as listening to music, drawing, shoe/clothing customization, photography and canvas painting.
 
Kayla Malec
 
Prior to Marshall: She appeared in 39 matches and 87 total sets over four seasons at Chicago State. Malec tallied 54 kills and 31 total blocks. She marks her team's wins over Rutgers in 2018 and Indiana this past season as her favorite moments because, "I love being the underdog. Beating big teams was truly unforgettable. We put in a lot of work and to have it rewarded is one of the greatest feelings." Chicago State swept those two matches.
 
The middle blocker made her collegiate debut in 2018 against California with three kills and a season-best three blocks. Malec had season highs of four kills in three contests coming against Eastern Illinois, UTRGV an
