Marshall Track Teams Complete the Regular Season

Athens, Ohio - Marshall University's track and field teams recorded eleven first-place finishes at the non-scoring Ohio Open, Saturday. Athletes from Marshall, Ohio, Ohio Wesleyan and Dennison took part in the meet.
The meet served as the Herd's final tune-up prior to the Mid-American Conference Championship, which will be held May 18-20 at the University at Buffalo.
Marshall's Aaron Trammell was responsible for two of the Herd's top finishes. The native of Manassas, Va., won the shot put with a mark of 53-feet, 10-inches and the discus with a throw of 151-feet, six-inches.
Several West Virginia natives also won events, including Poca's David Lyle and Winfield's Robert Tant. Lyle, a senior, led a Thundering Herd sweep in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:02.2, while fellow Putnam Countian Robert Tant, a freshman, captured the men's pole vault with a mark of 14-feet.
Martinsburg native's Scott Johnson and Josh Sowers also finished first in their events. The two Hedgesville High products won the 800m (1:56.6) and the hammer throw (159-5), respectively.
Marshall also received first-place finishes from Andrew Blair (won the 100-meter dash in a time of 10.8 seconds, B.J. Epps (won the 400m hurdles in 53.4 seconds), William Byrnes (won the 3,200m run in 9:47.2), and Alicia Cain (won the women's hammer throw with a mark of 120-2).
