Track Teams Gear Up For Virginia Tech Challenge

HUNTINGTON, W.Va.?The Marshall University track and field teams return to action this weekend at the Virginia Tech Challenge in Blacksburg, Va.

Fresh off a strong performance at the Doug Raymond Invitational, the Herd runners will compete against several teams from the Atlantic Coast Conference and Virginia. The field of teams competing include; James Madison, Clemson, VMI, Liberty, North Carolina, Georgia, Virginia Commonwealth, Appalachian State, the University of Virginia, North Carolina State, Wake Forest, East Carolina (women only) and Hampton (women only).

Last week, the men?s 1,600 meter relay team broke the school record for the second time this season and grabbed their third first place finish this season. Junior Terry Stahl added his name to the record books after breaking the men?s 35 pound weight throw record. Senior Shani Brown broke her own record in the women?s 25 pound weight throw and placed fifth.

The Virginia Tech Challenge begins Friday and will conclude Saturday afternoon.
