NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Belmont Bruins took game two of Saturday's doubleheader at Greer Stadium, 9-8 after a furious charge by the Thundering Herd.

Down 8-5 going into the top of the seventh, five consecutive Marshall players reached base. Joe Glevenyak (West Palm Beach, FL) started it off with a one out single. Adam Frederick (Franklin, PA) followed that up with a walk, which brought up Francois Larmore (Magnolia, NJ) who singled up the middle to load the bases. Sophomore Rich Russell (Toronto, Ont.) singled to third to bring in Larmore and keep the bases loaded. A single by Brad Helm (Downington, PA) brought in two more runs to tie the game.

The run by the Herd was stopped when pinch runner Josh McConnell (Phenix City, AL) was thrown out stealing home. Belmont pitcher Will Tucker got junior Matt Megee (Georgetown, DE) to foul out to end the inning.

Chris Meadows (Huntington, WV), who came into the game in the sixth inning, loaded up the bases in the bottom of the seventh and gave up the game-winning single to Ben Petsch with two outs.

Belmont took a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the second, tallying four runs on three hits against Marshall starter Chris Koutsavlis (Pittsburgh, PA). The Herd came back in the top of the third, notching five runs to take the lead 5-4.

The lead was short lived, however, as the Bruins came back with three runs in the bottom of the third to take a 7-5 lead. Freshman Troy Wilson (Saegertown, PA) gave up the three runs in his first collegiate appearance.

No more runs were scored until the bottom of the sixth, when Patrick Molinari (Plainfield, IL) gave up two hits and had a hit batter to load up the bases with no outs. Bruin Jason Warpool scored on a wild pitch to give the Bruins an 8-5 lead. Chris Meadows was then brought in and got three consecutive outs to get out of the inning.

Meadows took the loss in game two while Will Tucker got the win. In game one, Scott Henning (Wilmington, DE) took the loss pitched five innings giving up three runs on six hits.

Joe Glevenyak and Brad Helm led the way with three hits in the doubleheader. Corie O'Bryan notched two hits in game one while Francois Larmore had two in the second game.
