Baseball to Compete in Charleston Challenge

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Thundering Herd baseball team will head to Charleston, South Carolina to compete in this weekend's Charleston Challenge.
This is the third straight year that the team has played in the tournament. They are 2-3 in their previous two appearances.
The Herd is coming off of a rough opening weekend, dropping three games to the Belmont Bruins. There were, however a few bright spots in the opening weekend as Francois Larmore (Magnolia, NJ) batted .625 and had a slugging percentage of .875 for the weekend. Josh McConnell (Phenix City, AL) also played strong, batting .400.
This weekend's action begins on Friday at 5 p.m. when Marshall will face off against the College of Charleston Cougars. The Cougars are 2-0 after sweeping their opening series against Hofstra. George Mason will be the next opponent on Saturday at 12 p.m. This is the opening series for GMU. The final opponent on Sunday at 1 p.m. will be the Buccaneers of Charleston Southern. The Buccaneers are 0-3 after being swept by the South Carolina Gamecocks last weekend.
