Track Finishes Sixth at Miami Invitational

OXFORD, Ohio - The Marshall University women's track team finished sixth overall at the Miami Invitational on Saturday.
Leading the Herd was junior sprinter Zedmalia Wolfe (Toronto, Canada) who finished third in the 200-meter (25.24) and second in the 400-meter. Wolfe set a new school record in the 400-meter with her time of 55.98.
In distance events seniors Shelby Pride (Bethel, Ohio) and Varinka Barbini (Flanders, N.J.) had top 10 finishes. Pride placed ninth in the 5000-meter (18:13.59) and Barbini placed eighth in the 1500-meter (4:49.92) and 10th in the 800-meter (2:21.16).
Freshman Brittani Keeney (Proctorville, Ohio) was the top finisher for the Herd in the field, placing second in the discus (135-4). Also having a strong day in the field were freshman Teniqua Sutton (Westbury, N.J.) and senior Amanda Halsey (Dunkirk, Ohio). Sutton placed third in the triple jump (37-5) while Halsey finished third in the javelin (122-2).
The Herd will next travel to Richmond, Ky. to compete in the EKU Invitational on Friday, April 16.
