Herd Places Second at EKU Open

RICHMOND, Ky. - The Marshall University women's track team placed second at the Eastern Kentucky Open on Friday.

The Herd had top finishes in the field which led them to the second place finish. Senior Amanda Halsey (Dunkirk, Ohio) finished first in the discus (132-07), second in the javelin (122-09) and fifth in the shot put (35-03.75). In the jumps, freshman Teniqua Sutton (Westbury, N.J.) placed first in the triple jump (36-09.5) and fourth in the long jump (16-05.5).

Junior Zedmalia Wolfe (Toronto, Ontario) led the Herd runners placing second in both the 100-meter dash (12.56) and the 200-meter dash (25.07). Senior Varinka Barbini (Flanders, N.J.) was the top finisher in the distance events, placing seveth in the 5000-meter (19:08.0).

The Herd returns to action on Friday, April 23, when they travel to Louisville, Ky. to compete in the Louisville Invitational.
