Marshal Track and Field Split for the Weekend

HUNTINGTON, W.Va.- This weekend will mark the first time this season Marshall track and field teams travel to separate meets. The track athletes will venture to Knoxville, Tenn. for the Sea Ray Relays hosted by the University of Tennessee and the throwers and jumpers will return to Ohio University the Bobcat Open. The Bobcat Open will take place on Friday, April 14 and the Sea Ray Relays will happen on both Friday, April 14 and Saturday, April 15.
While in Tennessee Marshall's relay teams will participate in the 4x100m relay, 4x200m relay, 4x400m and the shuttle hurdle relay. Two runners will participate in individual events, Breanna Jones (Columbia, S.C.) and Carmisa Morris (Greenville, S.C.). Jones will run in the 400m hurdles and Morris in the 100m sprint.
Running on the 4x100m relay team are Reshundra Smiley (Modesto, Calif.), Xavier Richards (Kingston, Jamaica), Katina Morris (Erie, Pa.) and Carmisa Morris. Katina Morris will be replaced by Jones in the 4x200m, while the other three runners remain the same.
Stephanie Eastman (Spencer, W.Va.), Terryn Webb (Beckley, W.Va.), Richards and Jones make up the 4x400m relay.
Marshall will run in its first shuttle hurdle relay of the season while at the Sea Ray Relays. Karmen Collins (Slicklerville, N.J.), Tekisha Martin (Michigan City, Ind.), Danyell Garner (Logan, W.Va.) and Jones make up the team.
At the Bobcat Open the throwers and jumpers will compete in five different events.
Stacie Belzer (Glassboro, N.J.), Brittani Burke (Proctorville, Ohio), LaTricia Jones (Spartanburg, S.C.), Jessica Pissini (Hermitage, Pa.), Rachel Blankenship (Hurricane, W.Va.) and Nicole Kyle (Keyser, W,Va.) are all throwing the hammer for the Herd. Blankenship, LaTricia Jones and Pissini are also heaving the shot put. Tossing the discus for Marshall is Belzer, Burke and Pissini.
Kweam Phillander (Siparia, Trinidad) will launch the javelin.
Quinnyana Brown (Amherst, N.Y.) and Sikeetha Shepard-Hall (Houston, Texas) are the only two athletes jumping this weekend. Both ladies will participate in the long jump and the triple jump.
