HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall University freshman setter Elizabeth Fleming (South Bend, Ind.) handed out 30 helpers en route to lifting the Green squad to a 2-1 victory (24-30,30-24,17-15) over the White team in Thursday night's annual Green/White exhibition match at the Cam Henderson Center.

"Liz Fleming ran the second game extremely well for a freshman," head coach Mitch Jacobs said. "She really got a feel for what we do here."

Senior outside hitter Kelly-Anne Billingy (Trincity, Trinidad) tallied a team-high 11 kills and notched six digs for the Green in the victory.

"Billingy really took over game two," Jacobs said.

Senior outside hitter Stephanie Cahill (Louisville, Ky.) added eight kills and contributed five digs for the White squad.

"We have a lot of work to do and a long road ahead of us," added Jacobs. "Everyone played hard and I think we are ahead of where we were last year at this point."

The Thundering Herd kick-off their season on Friday, August 24 when they travel to Blacksburg, Va. to take on William & Mary in the Virginia Tech Tournament. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m.
