Brown Takes Triple Jump Crown at Akron Open

AKRON, Ohio - Senior Quinnyana Brown (Amherst, N.Y.) notched her first top finish in the triple jump event at the Akron Open this weekend. Brown led the pack with a leap of 37 feet and one and ¼ inches.
Junior LaTricia Jones (Spartanburg, S.C.) continued to add on to her great season, placing fourth in the weight throw (52 feet and half an inch) and fifth in shot put (42 feet and five and a half inches).
Freshman Darby Mullen (Pecks Mills, W.Va.) earned a sixth place finish in the 1-mile run with a time of 5:18.73, a season best for Marshall.
The Marshall University Women's Track team will compete next at the Tiger Invitational hosted by Clemson Feb. 15-16.
