Baseball Set to Play Green/White World Series

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall University baseball team will play its annual Green/White World Series with the first game slated for Saturday, Oct. 10 at 3 p.m. The series will consist of seven games, including a Parents Day on Saturday, Oct. 17, at noon. All contests will be played at the Kennedy Center Field on Route 2.

The Green squad will be coached by assistant Tim Donnelly, and features 2009 first-team All-Conference USA member, Victor Gomez. Last season, Gomez led the team in homeruns (18), RBI (62), hits (72), total bases (143), slugging percentage (.659) and at bats (217).

Assistant coach George Brumfield leads the white squad, which features top-returners Josh Valle and Austin Coan. Valle led the team in runs (46) and batting average (.337) in 2009. Coan topped the Herd in saves last season (8), while posting a 3-5 record and a 3.49 ERA in 23 appearances out of the bullpen.
