Marshall Shines in Field Events at Virginia Tech

BLACKSBURG, Va. - Andrea Jackson placed second in the triple jump while Vanessa Jules and Kristin Smith tied for first place in high jump at the Virginia Tech Invitational on Saturday evening in Blacksburg.
Jackson set a personal best with a mark of 42-02 feet (12.85) as she placed second behind Ayanna Alexander who jumped unattached. The jump meets the provisional distance for the Indoor National Championship. Jackson also posted the 16th best jump in the country this season, and the best distance of any C-USA competitor this season.
Jules and Smith each cleared 5-feet, seven inches as they tied for first place in the high jump. LaTricia Jones, as she has been all year, was right at the top when the women's weight throw concluded. Jones nabbed second place with a distance of 57-11.75.
It is off to the Conference USA Championship next weekend for the Herd, hosted by the University of Houston. MU will look to take a number of first place finishes in the field events, led by Jackson, Jones, Jules and Smith.
