Marshall (9-10)
The Thundering Herd split a pair of mid-week games, falling 6-3 at No. 1 Virginia and defeating Ohio 10-4 in Huntington.

A staff by committee from the Herd bullpen, which included six pitchers, held the top-ranked Cavaliers offense to just one earned run this past Tuesday at Davenport Field in Charlottesville, Va. The MU defense struggled by committing four errors en route to five unearned runs crossing home which led to the loss.

The Herd used an eight-run fourth inning against Ohio University on Wednesday and 11 different players recorded a hit to defeat the Bobcats in the 150th meeting between the two schools, 10-4. Victor Gomez smoked two doubles in the break-out inning for the Herd, including a bases clearing two-bagger to propel the team to victory.

V.Gomez has provided plenty of thunder for the Herd this season. The junior C/1B enters the weekend with a .372 batting average, including seven doubles, six homers and 25 RBI, all tops on the MU team.

Tulane (15-7)
The Green Wave had strung together nine-straight victories before falling to the University of New Orleans for the second time this season on Tuesday, 4-1.

TU is hitting .328 as a team, led by cleanup hitter Rob Segedin. The slugging third baseman owns a .419 batting average, and is the reigning C-USA co-Hitter of the Week for his dominance in a three-game sweep of St. Mary's. He is tops in the conference with 17 doubles and ranks second in total bases with 64.

The TU pitching staff has been equally effective with a 3.88 team ERA. Right-hander Conrad Flynn toes the rubber in game one and has been a workhorse on the mound. Flynn is tied for innings pitched (35.2) in the league, while ranking second in ERA (2.52).
