BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Marshall University women's track and field team has its last tune up before the Conference USA Championships as the Thundering Herd is at the Virginia Tech Challenge.

Marshall appears to be firing on all cylinders heading into conference after performing very well at the Akron Invitational, which included 12 student-athletes setting either season or personal best times.

The VT challenge begins Friday night with field events of the long jump, the pole vault and the weight throw. The Herd will send Lauren DeHays and Amber Pierson into the long jump, while Molly Grove and Elizabeth Barnhart will participate in the weight throw.

Friday nights running events include the 60 meter hurdle in which Rachel Coaxum and Alecia Daniels will participate, and the 60 meter dash as Cheri Bunner and Jasia Richardson are entered.

The shot put, triple jump and high jump are the scheduled field events for Saturday, featuring Marshall's Elaine Derricott in the triple and the shot put, as she preps for the heptathlon for the C-USA Championships.

Track events feature three relays, along with the 400 meter dash, the 1,000 meter run and the 5,000 meter run. Fans can follow live for both days of competition by logging onto www.flashresults.com
