Baseball Hosts Eastern Kentucky at the Kennedy Center

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall University baseball team will play its first game of the season in Huntington when the Thundering Herd will play host to the Eastern Kentucky Colonels at the Kennedy Center on Tuesday at 3 p.m.



Marshall sports a 14-20 overall record with EKU sitting at 14-22 on the year.



The two teams have split the two previous meetings in 2011, with MU taking the first game on March 29 by an 8-5 score at Legends Field in Lexington. Highlights from the win against EKU included pinch-hit two-run homer from Thor Meeks and Isaac Ballou had two hits, scored twice and stole two bases in the win.



In the second meeting, EKU got the better of the Herd with a 9-6 victory. Victor Gomez and Victor Ramos each laced a pair of hits in the loss.



On the season Isaac Ballou and James Lavinskas own the best success against the Colonels at the plate, each going 3-for-7 (.429). Lavinskas hit a homer in the first meeting and has walked three times and knocked in a pair, while Ballou has crossed home four times, knocked in three and is 3-for-3 in stolen base attempts.



Jacob Daniel leads the EKU offense with team-high's in homers (8) and RBI (36), while hitting at a .375 clip on the season.
