Herd Student-Athletes' Academics Recognized by C-USA

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - A record 2,433 Conference USA student-athletes, including 165 from Marshall, earned recognition to the Commissioner's Honor Roll during the 2011-12 academic year, Commissioner Britton Banowsky announced Monday.
Those named to the list maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better. The total number honored by the conference is an increase of more than six percent from a year ago.
Marshall's 165 is an increase by two over last season and ranked as the seventh-most in the conference. Rice led all schools with 232 while UCF was second at 221. Members from all 15 of Marshall's athletic programs were represented. Women's soccer had the most on the honorees with 23 while swimming and diving and football each had 20.
Student-athletes with a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or better also receive the Commissioner's Academic Medal. Those winners will be released Tuesday.
