HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Marshall's baseball team will face the undefeated Kentucky Wildcats (12-0) at UK's Cliff Hagan Stadium in Lexington, Ky. Wednesday at 4 p.m.

The Thundering Herd is looking to rebound off a 1-3 weekend which saw the team go hitless in its most recent outing, a 5-1 loss to Wake Forest on Sunday. As a result, Marshall (4-7) has lost back-to-back games for the first time since the season began.

Kentucky has won all 12 of its games this year and consequently climbed to a No. 23 ranking in the NCAA. In their most recent outing, the Wildcats needed a come-from-behind victory Wednesday evening to defeat Tennessee Tech 10-6. The Wildcats scored six runs in the bottom of the seventh inning of that game to erase a 6-3 deficit and keep the perfect record intact. Only UK and Gonzaga (10-0) remain unbeaten in the world of college baseball.

Nathan Gomez leads the Herd in both hitting (.325) and run production (12 RBIs). The junior first baseman ranks fifth in Conference-USA in runs batted in, sixth in doubles (four), and fourth in home runs (two). His six extra base hits have him slugging .575 which is 10th in C-USA.

The Wildcats have four different hitters batting over the .400 mark, led by outfielder Zac Zeller's average of .448. As a team, UK is averaging over nine runs per game as it has already posted 10 or more runs in five different contests this season.
