Leon Named Marshall Student-Athlete of the Week

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Freshman baseball player Sergio Leon was named the Marshall Student-Athlete of the Week after batting over .400 in the week ending May 13.

A shortstop from Miami, Fla., Leon batted .421 on the week and .500 (7-of-14) in the weekend series against No. 13 UCF.

He went 4-for-4 in game two of that series and led the Herd to a 9-6 win over the Knights, the first time in two seasons that Marshall has defeated a ranked team. Leon hit his first career home run, a three-run blast, in his second at-bat of the contest to give the Herd a lead it would not relinquish.
