Herd Completes Competition at Kentucky Invitational

LEXINGTON, Ky.-The Marshall indoor track and field team completed its competition Saturday at the Kentucky Track and Field Invitational at Nutter Fieldhouse on the campus of the University of Kentucky.
The quartet of Loren Dyer, Kearra Haynes, Tianya Hankerson and Shanice Johnson finished in sixth place in the 4x400 relay in a time of 3:53.15.
Individually, Antonique Butler's 11th-place finish in the triple jump (11.28 meters) led the way, just ahead of Dyer's 12th-place showing in the 400 meters (58.33 seconds) and Elaine Derricott's 13th-place finish in the 60 meter hurdles (8.76). Derricott also paced the Herd in the shot put with a throw of 11.54 meters for a 28th-place finish.
Catika Slay finished in a tie for 15th in the high jump (1.55 meters).
Kametra Boyd led Marshall in both the 60 (T-20th, 7.92) and 200 meter dashes (28th, 26.01). Alexandria Phares posted a 5:23.94 mark in the mile run for 21st, while Bethany Drury took 26th in the weight throw with a mark of 13.90 meters.
Andrea Porter's time of 2:29.93 was good enough for 32nd in the 800 meters.
Marshall will be back in action Friday and Saturday at the Gladstein Invitational in Bloomington, Indiana.
