HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Marshall track and field hosted its first home invitational on Friday, welcoming 16 teams to the Jeff Small Track at the Cline Athletic Complex's Indoor Athletic Facility in Huntington, W.Va.
The Herd competed in just one event Friday-women's weight throw, and placed two in the top 20.
Sophomore Mercedes Dowell (Buckhannon, W.Va.) finished in 15th place with 14.22m. Junior Bethany Drury (St. Albans, W.Va.) followed behind in 16th with 14.06m.
The meet will continue on Saturday, with field events beginning at 9 a.m. and track events beginning at noon.
