HUNTINGTON, W.Va. --
Marshall track and field finished the second and final day of competition at the inaugural Thundering Herd Invite on the Jeff Small Track with 15 top-eight finishes.



Marshall finished the meet in fifth with 61 total points, topping seven squads. Western Carolina swept the event, collecting 122 points on the women's side and 238 for the men.



In the 60 meter dash, the Herd finished with three top eight runners. Sophomore Isatu Fofanah (Ponoka, Alberta, Can.) took the crown with a time 7.46. Classmate Hope Julmiste (Miami) placed fourth with a time of 7.59, and in sixth was fellow sophomore Kametra Byrd (Miami) with a time of 7.70. Fofanah set a new track record, shattering the old record of 7.46.



In the 200 meters, Fofanah again took victory, clocking in at 24.25, setting another track record, previously held by Byrd, who improved her time and finished in eighth place (25.42).



Sophomore Shyra Molten (Ashland, Va.) recorded a sixth place finish (57.64) in the 400m,



Junior Asia Bange (Columbus, Ohio) also grabbed first, winning the 60m hurdles with an 8.68 mark. Bange broke the track record, previously held by herself.



Senior Loren Dyer (Lortan, Va.) continued Marshall's success, finishing in second in the triple jump with a length of 11.88m. Teammate Antonique Butler (Nassau, Bahamas) followed closely, posting an 11.60 mark for third place.



The 4x4 relay of sophomore Tianya Hankerson (Fruitland, Md.), Dyer, Fofanah, and junior Shanice Johnson (Franklin Square, N.Y.) finished just out of podium contention at fifth, clocking in at 3:51.85.



Full Marshall results are attached. The Thundering Herd will travel to Akron, Ohio for the Akron Invitational on Feb. 6-7.
