HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Two members of the 2015 Marshall baseball team earned College Sports Madness Preseason All-Conference USA honors, as announced Monday.
Sophomore Corey Bird (Pinch, W.Va.) earned a first-team recognition as one of three outfielders picked on the squad. Bird was a College Sports Madness all-conference selection last spring, and became the seventh Herd player to earn C-USA All-Freshman Team honors.
The centerfielder was second in the league with 15 stolen bases in 2014, and led Marshall with a .292 batting average. Bird is one of just four sophomores selected to the list.
Junior Michael Taylor (St. Albans, W.Va.) was awarded second-team honors as one of three pitchers.
Taylor recorded a team-high 13 starts in 2014, collecting 41 strikeouts in 68 1/3 innings pitched.
Marshall begins its 2015 season on Friday, Feb. 13, in Tallahassee, Fla., facing Florida A&M.
