HUNTINGTON, W.Va.--Marshall baseball (2-5) travels to Winston-Salem, N.C., for its third straight road series beginning Friday, Feb. 27- March 1.

The Herd will face Towson, a 2013 NCAA Regional participant, and Wake Forest in two games apiece and all games will be played at Wake Forest Baseball Park.

In an effort to avoid the coldest temperatures this weekend, Wake Forest announced slight changes to the weekend schedule. Games previously scheduled for noon will now be played at 11:30 a.m., and games slated for 4 p.m. will begin instead at approximately 3 p.m.

HAVE YOU HERD?



Marshall suffered a tough trip last weekend, dropping all four games in Starkville, Miss., including two to No. 14 Mississippi State. The Herd attacked first in both of those contests, but was unable to capitalize.



Junior DJ Gee (Seattle) scored three of the Herd's 10 runs last weekend, including launching his first homer for Marshall. Senior Josh King (Troup, Ga.) sits at third in Conference USA with a .522 batting average, while classmate Sergio Leon (Miami) is seventh in the league (.414) and Gee is twelfth (.381).



Gee is tied for fourth in C-USA with eight runs scored, and Leon and King are tied for third with 12 hits apiece.



As a team, Marshall is second in the league with a .323 batting average, just falling shy of No. 11 Rice (.345).

SCOUTING THE TIGERS



Towson enters the weekend 0-3 after dropping three straight games on Opening Weekend to USC. The Tigers are led by sophomore Brady Policelli, who supports a .364 batting average with one homerun. The catcher/infielder has four hits in 11 at-bats in the squad's young season.



The Herd faced Towson during 2014 Opening Weekend, falling 8-3.



SCOUTING THE DEMON DEACONS



Wake Forest (4-4) is coming off a 10-1 loss to Appalachian State on Wednesday. The Demon Deacons' offensive force is led by a trio of players in sophomores Jonathan Pryor (.476 BA, 10 H, 1 HR, 4 RBI, 4 R) and Will Craig (.462 BA, 12 H, 3 2B, 1 HR, 10 RBI, 8 R) and freshman Stuart Fairchild (.450 BA, 9 H, 2 2B, 1 HR, 4 RBI, 5 R).



Marshall also faced Wake Forest on the 2014 Opening Weekend, splitting a doubleheader with the Deacs. The Herd lost by a walk-off home run in the first game 4-3, but rebounded to take the nightcap 4-1.
