Day One Results
AKRON, Ohio - Marshall track and field finished its first day at the Akron Invitational at Stile Field House in Akron, Ohio, with a top-5 finish in the Pentathlon out of redshirt junior Catika Slay (Douglasville, Ga.).
The pentathlon is a contest that features five events, combining the points a competitor earns in each individual event. Slay collected 3,433 total points, finishing in fifth place in the 20 person event.
She tied for third in the high jump (1.63m) and placed fifth in the 800 meter run (2:32.08), seventh in the long jump (5.27m), eighth in shot put (10.23m), and fifteenth in 60 meter hurdles (9.46).
Freshmen Danielle Wright (Washington, D.C.) and Sarah Ferguson (West Union, W.Va.) also competed in pentathlon, finishing 13th and 19th, respectively.
Junior Alexandra Phares (Morgantown, W.Va.) clocked a time of 18:54.86 in the 5,000 meter run, finishing in 17th place.
Marshall will compete Saturday on the final day of the Akron Invitational. Full results are included.
