Bange, Dyer Win at Bulls Invitational

TAMPA, Fla. - The Marshall outdoor track and field team competed this weekend at the Bulls Invitational, a meet that was held on the campus of South Florida University.
Asia Bange and Loren Dyer were Marshall's top individual finishers, as Bange won the 100 meter hurdles in a time of 14.13 seconds and Dyer took the 400 meter hurdles in a time of 1:03.21.
Antonique Butler had a fine performance as well, taking second in the triple jump with a leap of 11.93 meters. The 4x100 meter relay team of Kametra Byrd, Shanice Johnson, Catika Slay and Naja Greer also finished second in a time of 46.34 seconds.
Byrd secured fifth in the 100 meter dash (11.93 seconds) and Breanna Hargrove came in sixth in the 400 meter dash (58.46 seconds).
The 4x400 meter relay team of Andrea Chidester, Hargrove, Greer and Slay also had a fifth-place showing, in a time of 3:56.35.
Slay led the Herd in the long jump with an eighth-place finish and a leap of 5.52 meters. Johnson also placed eighth in the 200 meter dash (24.47 seconds), as did Alexandria Phares (19:01.08) in the 5000 meter run.
Bethany Drury was the team's top finisher in the shot put (eighth, 12.11 meters) and followed that with a ninth-place discus throw (37.17 meters) and an 11th-place finish in the hammer throw (44.49 meters).
Madeline Armstrong (2:23.01) finished 11th in the 800 meter run and Andrea Porter notched a 12th-place finish in the 1500 meter run (4:52.83).
Caleb Bowen of the men's cross country team competed in the men's 5000 meter run, finishing fourth in a time of 15:21.13.
Marshall will compete at the Raleigh Relays Friday and Saturday in North Carolina.
