Herd Track and Field Finishes Buckeye Tune-Up

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall University track and field team completed its final indoor meet of the regular season Friday, with several impressive results at the Buckeye Tune-Up hosted by Ohio State.
Herd runners came off the starting line fast Friday, including junior Hope Julmiste, who won the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.54 seconds, a lifetime best.
Senior Asia Bange finished third in the 60-meter hurdles, posting a school record 8.42 seconds.
Sophomore Barkley Castro placed third in the 600-meter run (1:40.87), while junior Alexi McEntire placed closely behind in fifth (1:42.17). Junior Andrea Porter was the fastest Herd performer in the 800-meter, with a ninth-place time of 2:21.55.
In field events, freshman Lauren George earned fourth place in the long jump, with a jump of 5.22m. Fellow freshman Elena Marchand finished eighth in the shot put, with a best throw of 13.94m. Junior Caitlyn Owings finished ninth in the high jump, with a clearance of 1.48m.
"It was a great day for Asia and Hope," Marshall coach Jeff Small said. "Asia broke her own school record in the hurdles and Hope had that lifetime best in the 60 dash. Both girls moved up on the conference list and set themselves up for a great meet at the Conference USA Championships."
The Herd competes next at the Conference USA Indoor Championships in Birmingham, Ala. The meet runs from Feb. 24-25. Follow Marshall track and field on Twitter, @HerdTFXC.
