HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Just beyond the halfway point for the 2016 outdoor season, the Marshall track and field team is set for the Catamount Classic, hosted Friday and Saturday by Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, N.C.

The Herd returns to North Carolina for the second time this season, after competing in the Wake Forest Open in Winston-Salem on March 18 -19.

Last weekend, Marshall competed in the Hilltopper Relays in Bowling Green, Ky., hosted by Western Kentucky University.

Seniors Asia Bange and Alexandra Phares will look to continue their success from last weekend. Bange picked up the Herd's only win last weekend in the 100-meter hurdles. Phares had two top-10 finishes, finishing third in the 3,000, and ninth in the 1,500.

Other top-10 finishes in running events included senior Shanice Johnson, who finished ninth in the 400 and junior Amber Govey, who finished 10th in the 3000m Steeplechase.

In field events, top-10 finishes came from freshman Elena Marchand, who placed sixth in the shot put and ninth in the discus. In the triple jump, junior Antonique Butler finished sixth and freshman Lauren George finished eighth.

Next Friday and Saturday, the Herd will compete at the UVA Challenge in Charlottesville, Va., hosted by the University of Virginia. Follow Marshall track and field on Twitter, @HerdTFXC.
