@HerdBaseball Heads to Ohio for Midweek Tilt

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall baseball (27-17, 16-8 Conference USA) heads to Ohio (21-25, 6-12 Mid-American Conference) to close out the season series against the longtime rival on Tuesday at Bob Wren Stadium at 6 p.m.

ON THE MOUND
RHP Wade Martin (1-0, 2.77 ERA) vs. RHP Logan Jacik (2-1, 4.88 ERA)

Martin, a freshman right-hander, has made two starts for the Herd this season, including a game at West Virginia. The Portsmouth, Ohio, native has tossed 13 innings this season with 14 strikeouts. Jacik has thrown 31.1 innings with 16 strikeouts.

SETTING MILESTONES
Marshall is coming off its second straight C-USA series sweep this past weekend over the UAB Blazers. The Herd swept Middle Tennessee the weekend prior. Marshall has won nine of its last 10 league games, its best 10-game stretch of play in league games since 1978. The Herd's six game win streak in conference is the longest since entering the league 11 seasons ago.

HOMERING HERD
The Thundering Herd has become an offensive powerhouse this season, specifically in home runs. Marshall ranks 30th in the country in homers with 44, while holds the 19th position in homers per game at 1.0. Junior Tommy Lane leads the Herd with 13 homers.

SERIES HISTORY
Tuesday's meeting between the two programs will be the 162nd meeting, the most-played series in Thundering Herd baseball history. The Bobcats hold a 6-4 advantage over the last 10 meetings.

SCOUTING THE BOBCATS
Ohio took one of three against the Central Michigan Chippewas this past weekend. In the Bobcats lone win, third baseman John Adryan hit a one-out single to left center field to score Mitch Longo to give themselves a 5-4 walk-off victory in the 14th inning.

Longo leads the team with a .374 batting average and has started in all 45 games. He has a team-high 71 hits with 12 doubles. Rudy Rott paces the team in RBIs with 38.

Marshall closes out its regular season road conference schedule with a three-game series at WKU, beginning on Friday at 7 p.m. (ET). Saturday and Sunday are scheduled for 2 p.m. (ET) starts.
