HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall baseball team travels to Morehead State to finish its season series with the Eagles at Allen Field on Wednesday at 5 p.m.

Marshall (19-21, 8-10 Conference USA) enters the midweek contest coming off a disappointing week. The Thundering Herd went 1-4 with its lone win coming against FIU on Friday. Marshall showed off its offensive power by scoring a season-high 22 runs on 22 hits against the Panthers last Friday. The Herd was led by Sam Finfer and Cory Garrastazu. Finfer was 4-for-5 with four RBIs and four runs scored, while Garrastazu was 3-for-5 with four RBIs and three runs scored. Leo Valenti had a team-high five hits.
Finfer ranks in the Top 100 of seven different categories in the NCAA. The senior ranks 18th in home runs (12), 20th in homers per game (0.32), 26th for slugging percentage (.662), 33rd for total bases (100), 52nd in doubles per game (0.38), 56th for doubles (14) and 67th for runs per game (1.00). He leads Conference USA for home runs and homers per game.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
Morehead State (27-12, 12-5 Ohio Valley Conference) travels to Oxford, Ohio to face Miami (Ohio) on Tuesday before hosting the Thundering Herd. The Eagles split with the Austin Peay Governors over the weekend. Game three of the series between Morehead State and Austin Peay was canceled due to an unplayable field conditions.
Morehead State leads the NCAA in team batting average by hitting .337. The Eagles feature eight players that have a .300 batting average or higher. Will Schneider leads the team by hitting .400 with 62 hits and 32 RBIs. Niko Hulsizer ranks first in the NCAA for home runs (19), homers per game (0.49) and total bases (136).
THE LAST MEETING
Marshall 4, Morehead State 3 - April 11, 2017
Junior third baseman Tyler Ratliff blasted a solo walk-off homer to left field in the bottom of the ninth, lifting the Herd to a win over the Eagles at the Kennedy Center Field. Marshall finished with 10 hits, including three extra-base hits. Hanon had his ninth multi-hit game of the season by going 3-for-4 with a run scored. Ratliff was 2-for-5 with a run scored and a RBI.
