The Thundering Herd is 5-7-2 overall and 3-4-0 in Conference USA. The Mean Green comes in at 9-1-2 and 4-0-1 in conference action.

"Hopefully we can put our heads down and get to work," Herd head coach Kevin Long said. "Starting with perennial conference champion North Texas on Sunday. That's not going to be an easy task, but we really want to get two wins out of our last three, if not three. We're always playing for wins, but we know for the tournament to be a candidate we need to get to that 15-point mark and that's going to require at least two wins out of the next three."
Marshall is coming off a 2-1 loss Friday night to the Rice Owls at Hoops Family Field. Junior Marah Abu-Tayeh scored her eighth goal of the season in the loss. Junior keeper Megan Bonelli recorded four more saves and has 181 in her career, just nine away from moving into third all-time in program history.
North Texas moved into the rankings this past week. The only loss this season came to No. 12 Santa Clara, 1-0, on Aug. 27. The Mean Green then ran off seven-straight wins before playing to a 1-1 draw at WKU on Friday. North Texas has outscored its opponents 26-4 this season and has dominated in total shots (199-126) and shots on goal (79-47). Taylor Torres leads the team offensively with six goals, five assists and 17 points. Aaliyah Nolan and Berklee Peters have five goals each.
Kelsey Brann has been the main player in the net this season for North Texas. Brann has recorded 42 saves and sports a mere goals against average of 0.33. She entered the weekend third in the country in that category.
Following the match with North Texas, the Herd stays at home for one more match against Louisiana Tech on Sunday, Oct. 21. Marshall then finishes the regular season with a match at WKU on Oct. 26.
