CHARLESTON, W.Va.--The Thundering Herd baseball team is back at home this weekend for a three game C-USA series with the Owls of Florida Atlantic University (17-8). Marshall (11-9) will be looking to get back in the win column after being swept by UTSA on the road. Game one will take place Friday at 6 p.m., Game two will be Saturday at 4 p.m., and the series finale will be Sunday at 1 p.m.
ON THE MOUND
Friday vs. FAU LHP Joshua Shapiro (1-1 5.19 ERA) vs. Jake Miednik (4-1 2.58 ERA)
Saturday vs. FAU RHP Brad O'Connor (2-3 4.31 ERA) vs. Vince Coletti (1-2 3.60 ERA)
Sunday vs. FAU TBA vs. TBA
HAVE YOU HERD?
After losing starting pitcher Wade Martin (0-1 3.55 ERA) to injury against UAB, it seems Marshall has lost another starting pitcher, at least for the time being, in Will Ray (2-1 1.57 ERA). Joshua Shapiro claimed the Friday starting spot against UTSA with a strong performance, but Sunday's starter is still up in the air. Potential candidates for the start include:
--Zac McNeel, who is 0-0 in three appearances (one start) with an ERA of 5.91
--Chris Fryer, 0-0 in seven appearances with a 2.25 ERA
--Christian Simon, 1-0 in eight appearances with a 8.10 ERA
--Hunter Sexton, 0-0 in five appearances with a 0.00 ERA
SCOUTING FAU
--Tyler Frank has proven a deadly power-hitter for the Owls. Frank has a team-high seven home runs to go along with a .333 batting average.
--Eric Rivera and Cody Wilson are tied for most stolen bases on FAU with three apiece.
--Rivera is not someone you want to face with runners on base. His 22 RBIs lead the Owls, with the next closest batter having 17.
--Starting pitcher Kyle Marman, who is a perfect 4-0 on the season with a 1.45 ERA, is currently not listed as a starter for any games in the weekend series.
