HERD BATTLES BOBCATS IN HOME-AND-HOME

HUNTINGTON, W.Va.-The Thundering Herd baseball team is back at home Tuesday, and then on the road Wednesday for a home-and-home series against the Ohio University Bobcats. Marshall (15-17) has won three of its last five conference games, while Ohio (17-17) took two of three against Eastern Michigan in its last series. Game one will take place Tuesday at 3 p.m. in Huntington, while game two will be played Wednesday at 6 p.m. in Athens, Ohio.

HAVE YOU HERD?
--Catcher Reynaldo Pastrana now has the highest batting average on the team after a 4-5 game against WKU. Pastrana now leads the team in batting average (.344), runs (24), hits (45), doubles (12), RBIs (31), and slugging percentage (.550)
--Since moving into a starting role at third base, Kody Matthews has flourished and is now third on the team in batting average with a .302. Matthews is one of three members of the Herd this year with a multi-homerun game along with Andrew Zban and Peter Hutzal.
--Geordon Blanton continues to be dominant on the base path, stealing 13 bases in 14 attempts.
--Freshman Chris Fryer picked up the first win of his collegiate career against WKU over the weekend. His 3.55 ERA is currently the lowest among all active pitchers.
SCOUTING THE BOBCATS
--Rudy Rott leads Ohio with a .367 batting average. His 51 hits, eight homers, and 13 extra base hits are all team-highs.
--There are not many base running threats for the Bobcats, who have stolen just 15 bases all year.
--Relief pitcher Nick Kamrada's 1.59 ERA is the lowest among Ohio pitchers with at least two appearances.
