Herd Competes at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA-Marshall track and field concluded its events in the historic Penn Relays Friday afternoon at Franklin Field on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania.
Freshman Lauren Zaglifa broke the school record in the pole vault for the third time this season, setting a new top outdoor clearance mark of 3.65 meters (11 feet 11.75 inches). The Marshall school record holder in both the indoor and outdoor pole vault finished 13th in the event.
Junior Elena Marchand set a new personal best in the discus throw with a mark of 48.58 meters (159 feet 4 inches). Marchand finished seventh in the event and improved what was already the second best personal best in school history.
Junior Melany Belot recorded the top placement for Marshall at the Penn Relays with a third place finish in the triple jump college division. She recorded a top jump of 12.37 meters (40 feet 7 inches).
Junior Reneese Batson recorded another strong showing in the hammer throw. Batson finished fifth with a top mark of 56.17 meters (184 feet 3 inches).
Sophomore Christianna Dogan finished 21st in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.96.
