HERD PREPARES FOR C-USA BATTLE WITH MIDDLE TENNESSEE

MURFREESBORO, TN-The Thundering Herd baseball team is set to take on the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders this weekend in a three game C-USA series. Marshall (11-13) will be looking to end a string of seven consecutive losses. Middle Tennessee (17-12) is coming off a win over Vanderbilt. Game one will take place Friday at 7 p.m., game two will start at 5 p.m. Saturday, and the series ends Sunday starting at 2 p.m.

HAVE YOU HERD?

--Just a week after Peter Hutzal became the first member of the Herd to hit multiple homers in a game, Reynaldo Pastrana joined his teammate with a two-home run effort against Morehead State on Tuesday.

--The first home run of Geordon Blanton's career against Morehead State put the freshman second baseman at a team leading 18 runs scored on the season.

--Shane Hanon continues to lead the Herd with a .349 batting average.

--Relief pitchers Ryan Falls and Sam Boone made their first appearances of the season last week in last weekend's series against FAU.


SCOUTING THE BLUE RAIDERS

--Aaron Aucker has been a force at the plate for Middle Tennessee this season. His 40 hits, 36 RBIs, seven homers and .726 slugging average are all team-highs.

--L.A. Woodard is the Raiders biggest threat running the bases. Woodard has attempted to steal a base 17 times, converting 15 of those attempts.

--Friday starter Jake Wyrick leads MTSU's pitching staff with 44 strikeouts this season.
