Men’s Basketball Rides Hot-Shooting Night to Stroll Past LA Tech on the Road

Herd shoots 52 percent from three-point range and 50 percent from the field

RUSTON, La. – Marshall men's hoops (15-13, 8-7) uses hot shooting night to hand the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (18-11, 8-8) their first loss at home of the season, 90-79, in Ruston, La.
The Herd was led by Jon Elmore who scored 34 points in the game. The senior guard went 10-for-17 from the field, including five of 10 from deep, and nine-of-nine at the charity stripe. Elmore also dished out seven assists and grabbed six rebounds.
Jannson Williams added 11 points and brought down 10 boards for his second double-double of the season. Nine of the rebounds were on the defensive end of the court
Jarrod West was on fire from beyond the arc in contest making four of six shots from three-point range finishing the contest with 15 points. The sophomore added four assists and three rebounds to his stat line.
Taevion Kinsey rounded out a quartet of Marshall players with 10 or more points with 13 on a five-of-eight evening from the field.
The Herd trailed the majority of the first half, but grabbed the lead at the 8:15 mark of the half and did not trail the rest of the game.
Marshall shot 16-for-32 (50 percent) from beyond the arc, its best three-point shooting percentage of the season.
The Herd also went 29-of-57 from the field (50.9 percent) for its best overall shooting percentage since it went 52.7 percent from the field against Old Dominion.
