Marshall Begins Outdoor Season at Georgia Tech

ATLANTA, Ga.- Marshall Track and Field returns to action Friday, following a month-long break after the conclusion of the indoor season. The team will kick off its outdoor season at the Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket Invitational in Atlanta, Georgia.

Marshall is looking to build off its outing at the Conference USA Indoor Championships, one that saw Hasana Clark, Safiyyah Mitchell and Lauren Zaglifa medal in weight throw, 60-meter hurdles, and pole vault, respectively.

Last season, the Herd began its outdoor campaign at the 49er Classic in Charlotte, North Carolina. It recorded twelve top-10 finishes, and Melany Belot took first in triple jump.

This year Marshall will be up against eighteen other teams, including Power 5 conference schools Alabama, Georgia, Clemson, Florida State, North Carolina, Louisville and Pittsburgh.

The invitational has a fairly light schedule on day one, with only the hammer throw at 6 p.m. and the 5000-meter at 9 p.m. MaryAnn Adebayo, Reneese Batson and Hasana Clark will all represent Marshall in the hammer throw, while both Adriana Cook and Alexandra Evans will compete in the 5000-meter.
