Thundering Herd Posts Top Five Finishes on Friday

ATLANTA, Ga.- The outdoor track and field season is officially in motion, and the Herd is off to a hot start.

Marshall's student-athletes only competed in one of the two events Friday night, but they came away with two top-five finishes and three marks in the top 40. Reneese Batson finished second in hammer throw, with a mark of 54.92 meters. That mark is currently the eighth-best in the nation via TRFFS. Hasana Clark's mark of 52.03 meters was good for third place, and it ranks 15th in the nation. MaryAnn Adebayo also finished 14th in the event and now holds the 40th-best hammer throw mark (46.63 meters) in the country.

The team kicks off day two at 11 a.m. Saturday with three field events: shot put, javelin and pole vault. The first running event of the day (4x100 Relay) is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
