Marshall Finishes First Day at Pepsi Florida Relays

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Thundering Herd logged four events on Friday at the Pepsi Florida Relays in Gainesville, Florida. The day saw Marshall student-athletes compete in hammer throw, javelin, the 100 meter hurdles and the 400 meter hurdles.

Reneese Batson finished seventh in the hammer throw final, registering a top mark of 56.41 meters. Hasana Clark came in 14th (53.34 meters).

In javelin, Heidi Heinger came in 18th (41.05 meters), while Sylvia Terente finished 25th (36.31).

Safiyyah Mitchell finished 15th in the 100-meter hurdles (13.64 seconds), an event that had a total field of 45 runners. Taylor Robinson finished 36th (14.24).

The other running event of the day, the 400-meter hurdles, saw Christianna Dogan record her best time of the outdoor season—a 1:01.09 to finish 22nd. Ashonti Warner ran a 1:02.70 in the event to place 35th.

The first event for Marshall on Saturday will be the 4x100 shuttle huddle relay. It will be the team's first time competing in the event this season. The Herd will be represented by two squads.
