Batson Wins Hammer Throw at C-USA Championships

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Day two at the Conference USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships (Charlotte, N.C.) saw the Herd medal twice in hammer throw and finish first in the 800-meter of the Heptathlon.

Reneese Batson won the hammer throw after she threw for a distance of 57.18 meters (187 ft. and 7 in.). Teammate Hasana Clark took home the bronze in the event with her own mark of 54.48 meters (178 ft. and 9 in.). Freshman MaryAnn Adebayo and Kylie Miles finished 14th and 18th, respectively.

Sarah Bever ended up winning the 800-meter run of the Heptathlon—on her way to ninth in the competition. She recorded 4689 points overall. Torie Derrow finished 12th with 4484 points.

The Herd will be back in action Saturday at 9 a.m. Batson and Kylie Miles will compete in the discus.
