Peralta Named to NCAA Division I ABCA Mideast All-Region Second Team

Peralta adds to post-season awards with the all-region honor
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Former Marshall shortstop Elvis Peralta, Jr., was named to the 2019 NCAA Division I ABCA Mideast All-Region Second Team as announced by the ABCA on Wednesday.
He was recently selected with the 794th pick (26th round) in the 2019 MLB Draft by the Oakland A's and signed a contract with the AL West ball club.
Peralta was a force in C-USA in his first season after redshirting last season and transferring from Crowder College. He put up a slash line of .357/.425/.571, all bests among Marshall qualifying batters. Peralta had a team-leading nine homers with eight coming in conference play. He also had a team-leading 80 hits, tied for third most in a season in program history. Peralta has helped turn 38 double plays. His 42 RBI are second most for Marshall this season. His .357 batting average will be the 10th best for a career in program history. Peralta was named first-team all-conference and was named to the all-tournament team at the C-USA Championship.
