BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – The Marshall men's golf team played through the first day of the Mountaineer Invitational, however the second round was suspended on Monday due to darkness. The teams were close to completing the second round, and pick up Tuesday at 8 a.m.
Due to the second round not being completed, only the first round is official for the standings.
The Thundering Herd was tied for eighth at the end of the first round. The programs will finish the second round and then continue on to the third round. Live scoring is provided by GolfStat.com.
"Noah (Mullens) continued his great play this fall," Herd head coach Matt Grobe said. "It is fun to watch him play golf right now. The rest of the team played pretty well in stretches, but we just made too many mistakes. Hopefully, we can get off to a strong start tomorrow and together a nice final round."
Redshirt freshman Joseph Kalaskey got off to a great start in the first round with a 1-under, 71. He tallied six birdies in the round and was tied for seventh at the end of the round. Graduate student Noah Mullens scored a 4-over 76 in the first round.
North Carolina State holds a 3-stroke lead over Drexel. Mark Goetz of West Virginia sat atop the leaderboard at the end of the first round with a 3-under, 69.
