Men’s Basketball Hosts UNI for Final Home Game in 2021

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University men's basketball team hosts the University of Northern Iowa Panthers on Saturday in the Cam Henderson Center. It is the Herd's final home game in 2021.

HAVE YOU HERD
Marshall suffered a 75-65 loss at Ohio on Wednesday.
 
Freshman Obinna Anochilli-Killen made eight of his 11 field-goal attempts for a team-high 18 points. The forward fell a rebound shy of a double-double with a team-high nine rebounds. He also had a team-high three steals and two blocks.
 
Junior Taevion Kinsey followed with 15 points. The Columbus, Ohio, native went 7-for-9 from the charity stripe and grabbed seven boards.
 
Freshman David Early scored 14 points and redshirt sophomore Andrew Taylor added 11. Each made three baskets from behind the arc, and Taylor had a team-high five assists.
 
Kinsey reached double-figure scoring for the 45th consecutive game. It was just the second time this season Kinsey didn't reach the 20-point mark.
     
The Herd made a three in its 981st consecutive game, with the last contest without a triple occurring on Feb. 27, 1989, in a win over App State.
 
Senior Darius George played in his 123rd career game. He's tied with Damier Pitts (2008-12) for 10th most games played in program history.
 
Early's 14 points are a season-high for the freshman guard.
 
Anochili-Killen has tallied 10 or more points in 10 of Marshall's 11 games this season and is second in Division I men's basketball with 52 blocks. 
 
SCOUTING UNI
The Panthers come to Huntington after a 66-56 win over Jackson State on Tuesday in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
 
UNI ranks 14th in the nation in fewest turnovers with 93 and leads the country in fewest fouls committed at 92.
 
AJ Green paces his side in scoring at 17.4 points per game as Austin Phyfe leads in rebounds per game (5.1) and assists per game (2.8)
