Men’s Golf Prepares for Furman Intercollegiate

Three-day, three-round event begins Friday

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Marshall men's golf team is back on the course, Friday through Sunday, at the Furman Intercollegiate. The three-day, three-round event will be played at the Furman University Golf Course.

Playing for the Thundering Herd will be sophomores Tyler Jones and Christian Boyd, redshirt seniors Will Straub, Matt Hoffman and Cameron Root and senior Noah Mullens. The Herd will tee off beginning at 9:50 a.m.
Marshall is coming off a 12-day break after finishing up the Pinehurst Intercollegiate on March 14. Jones finished tied for seventh for his first top 10 finish of the season and third of his career.
The Furman University Golf Course is a par 71 with total yardage of 6,994.
Along with Marshall, and the host school (No. 71 in Golfstat top 100) Furman, the other programs competing in the tournament are Charleston Southern, Chattanooga, Connecticut, (No. 72) Florida Gulf Coast, Francis Marion, George Mason, High Point, Presbyterian, Samford, Toledo, Towson, USC-Aiken, Western Carolina, Wofford and Xavier. There are 18 teams with a total of 102 golfers.
Marshall was scheduled to play at the Furman Intercollegiate, March 27-29, 2020, however the even was canceled due to COVID-19. The Herd played at the event in the spring of 2019 (March 22-24) and finished in 14th out of 21 teams.
